I am trying to put together a Home Theater System and I can definitely use your help. I asked a question about HTIB System and everyone that responded pretty much wanted me to stay away from HTIB. The recommendation was clearly to go with building a Home Theater system by buying individual components. Thanks for your recommendations!

Based on your input and reading through several other posts in this forum, I have short listed my Receiver choices to 2 options:

1) Yamaha RX-V (575 or 675)
2) Sony STR-DN 1030

I am leaning more towards Sony for multiple reasons: 1) My TV and BD are Sony and I am quite happy. 2) Sony has Wi-fi, Bluetooth and few other options that Yamaha doesn't

I am looking for a 5.1 Speaker System that will fit well with one of the Receivers above.

Can you please let me know what some of my options for a 5.1 Speaker System are? My budget is about $1000 for the 5.1 Speaker System.

Here's what I currently have:

-Sony 70" 3D LED TV
-Sony 3D BD
-XBox 360

As indicated above, I am leaning more towards Sony STR DN 1030. Please let me know your recommendations for a good speaker system to buy.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Your reasons for leaning toward the Sony aren't reasons I would choose a receiver on :) That Sony got a decent review here on AH, but I'd still choose something other than Sony for the AVR. I'd go with a Denon over either of those you listed, and the Yamaha over the Sony.

The people who told you to piece together a system were correct. Speakers don't "fit" a receiver, only your budget and space requirements. How big is your room roughly?

Thanks for your input. Fair enough! I'll definitely research Denon.

Room is roughly 13x18.5.

This package would likely do well in that room:

The weak point IMO is going to be the sub, so you could consider just picking up the center and two pairs of the BS22LRs and add a better sub. I've owned the bookshelf speakers and own the towers and for the price they are actually quite impressive. They just aren't so good looking :) BS22s + the C22 center is about $350 right now (prices are a bit high right now, might wait for a sale) and then add a HSU VTF-1 sub and it will come in under budget and be a pretty solid system.
