Hi,

I live in Panama and did not have many choices when buying a turntable for my old vinyl subsequently I purchased a Numark TT1600 and a sony amp ....for multi use , dvd / cd etc. From the tuntable there is only an earth, and one white and one red jack.

I hooked up the tuntable through the MD/tape and it worked okay but the volume was very very low, it has to be almost max to hear it.

After reading some other posts on turntables I am wondering if I need a pre-amp ? or maybe I am just hooking it up incorrectly.

All I want to do is listen to Pink Floyd at a decent volume, please help , any advice greatly appreciated !

thanks

Yeah, PF needs to be loud to be heard properly. You should try hooking up your turntable to the phono input if there is one on the receiver. However, there are phono premps that you can find for not bad prices. Check out AudiogoN.

thanks jax .. no phono on receiver ,but will purchase phono pre amp , all the best
