I am slowly building my family room down stairs. This is what i have collected so far for putting together a 7.1.

Front: Polk RC85i
Mid: Polk RC85i
Rear: Polk RC80i ceiling mounted
Sub: Polk PSW505

I was thinking of going with a Infinity ERS HV250 for my center. I am not a super sound guy looking for something cheap that sounds nice.

I haven't decided on a receiver yet either.

Why not just go with another RC85i? You can mount it horizontal if you want that look.

Trying to match different front speakers can be difficult within a brand and near impossible when trying different companies. If these were surrounds I would say it would not matter as much but for your fronts it will make some level of difference.

If you are going to use different brands try and make sure they have the same impedance (4ohm or 8 ohm) and sensitivity (90db etc.).

I am piecing together my system and currently have a different center (matching center in transit) and it definitely sounds "weird." You can tell they aren't frequency matched (or timbre matched).

Having a L/R that is the same as the center should be fine.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you think it might be better to go with one of the rc65i or rc55i. The only problem with that is they come in boxes of two.

I was just looking at the Polk TC265i. Does anyone have this one. Do you think it would blend nicely with the RC series? Or do you think it would be better to stick to an RC85i
