Hello all,
I am down to these two
Onkyo is $588 at Oncall
Yamaha is $569 at another store.
Both seem to be reputed companies and good receivers with lots of features. I am leaning towards Yamaha. Not to excited with Onkyo net tune feature.
Can you guys shed some wisdom and help me decide.

i have no experience with onkyo. i have my opinions on the onkyo brand, though, and would choose yamaha hands down (i think that gives away my opinion of the onkyo brand).

Low prices.

Those are really good prices. Are they for new units from authorized dealers?
Anyway, both are good midfi models, pick the one with the features you need. The Yamaha seems to be much more popular around here.

Thanks

Thanks guys. I am inclined towards Yamaha too.
About dealers.
Yamaha is from "Authorised elctronics". Thats the dealer name.
Warranty is void since its not an authorised dealership. What I have heard is Yamaha is excellent build quality and this should not be a problem .Also there is $99 -5 year Philips extended warranty available. I was not sure when Philips got into this business. (http://store.yahoo.com/authorizedelectronics/yarxinst1.html)
See the link.
The dealer however seems to have good rating with consumers and looks quite safe that way.
Let me know if you see any concern.
Onkyo is from OneCall so thats not an issue there.
Thanks

I've had my 801 since they were first released and it has proven to be an excellent piece. Not once has it given me grief. It has enough juice to run a 7.1 gig at a proper volume while being able to render the surround effects very nicely. Just my two cents.

You can't really go wrong with either one. I have the Yammie RX-V2500. A frind of mine has the Onkyo. Both sound great.
