Hello, I am new to the forum. I have a pair of Cerwin Vega CLS-215 speakers, a pair of Fluance xl7s speakers, a pair of Bose model 21 speakers and a Polk audio Cs-10 center channel speaker. I could use advise on a receiver or amp combination that can handle the 4 ohm load and power requirements of the Cerwin Vegas as front channel speakers. Also is there a way to use the Vega's and Fluance's as front channel speakers and the rest for a 5 channel surround system.

Forgot to mention the Klipsch 12' 300 watt down firing sub
Thx for any ideas.

Welcome! How much do you want to spend? What do you need in the way of features/connectivity in the avr otherwise?

Might look around accessories4less.com for discount/refurb avrs, maybe look at the Denon X1400 for the lower price range, X3400 or above if you have a larger budget.

You want to use the XL7s as heights or wides? Or do you want to use the CVs and Fluances as separate L/R speaker sets? My avr can handle such dual L/R setups, one for surround, one for just 2ch. If you use heights/wides up front with L/R/C, and want to use the Bose for surrounds, that would be a 7ch system so not sure which way you're thinking here.

Thank you for the reply. I would like to find a receiver that has an MM phono input, has 4 ohm impedance for CV's, and can support arc channel and 4k tv.

I tried an Onkyo tx-nr676 yesterday to upgrade ( I thought) my Yamaha rx-v563.The Onkyo sounds flat and not as rich as the Yamaha. Steely Dan's "Aja" sounded like it was in a tin can. Plan on returning the Onkyo and am scratching my head on were to go next.

Have tried setting up speakers mentioned as 5 and 7 ch. Also tried running CV's and Fluances on a Niles speaker switcher as fronts running them both at same time.

The CV's seem power hungry? When using them as the only fronts the Yamaha would kick off when pushing the CV's hard with no detectable distortion. Never was an issue with my old Marantz 2 channel receiver and Sony EQ.

1000.00 or under would be a good price point.

Thanks for any help or suggestions

Never liked that phrase power hungry....they may have low impedance/high phase angle....or you just may be trying very high listening levels, hard to know (you may have a hunger for high listening levels, the speakers are what they are, they use the power you ask them to).

What Marantz receiver did you use before and how long ago was that? Why are you trying to connect two pairs of L/R speakers with a speaker switch (and how did you connect it to the avr)? Were you using the speakers set to small for the sub to handle the lower end? More info on your desired spl levels and any eq you were applying would help....

In any case you may need a significant power amp section for your use, or even an external amp, those and the phono stage will probably put you in the upper end of avr offerings these days. I wouldn't consider Onkyo these days myself, would look to upper end Marantz/Denon or Yamaha. You might also think about a power amp if you want very high listening levels.
