Need suggestions for my budget (Noob)

After a disappointing audition at my local AV store, i've decided to resort to purchasing my home theater online :)

Right now I'm pretty much set on the Onkyo 9100thx 7.1 or the Energy Micro 5.1's but I feel that there can be a better setup to be had.

I'm not sure that the onkyo has good satellites and i've heard that the Micro's subwoofer is lacking. So i'm pretty confused as to what to purchase.

The only things I know for certain are that I have a budget of $1300 (give or take a few hundred) and I have a pretty small room- any suggestions on floorstanders or bookshelfs that would pair well with an Onkyo 507 or 607??

Any insights would be very appreciated. Thanks

I'll steal from Chris and ISiberian here:

Get 3 pairs of Behringer 2030Ps, Two Dayton 10" subs, and an AVR with stereo sub outputs.

Of course: if you give more information, you will likely get a better (more tailored to your desires) response.

Very nice recommendation. Also look at another option 3 pairs of Cambridge Audio S30 at $199 per pair. Small, excellent sound and more asthestically looking than the Behringer 2030Ps. The Behringers are also very good.

Good Luck!

yeah thanks for the recommendations!

To be more specific about what they would be used for, They would be used mostly for standard dvds and music. Genre wise- probably classical, jazz, (some queen!) but clear dialogue/ vocals is the number one priority
