i just got some studio 40 v3 from audiogon from a local guy and now i need some stands. Before this i went down to the local dealer and they had the new v5's posted on some $300/pair j series i think. I need cheaper ones that still use the mounting holes on the bottom. These things are huge and weigh 40lbs each, way bigger than my cheapy $70 bookshelves from bestbuy. Looking for solutions around $100 even better if i can ones used. I think 23" in height is the right one for the studio 40.

Try negotiating on the J-series. I was able to get mine down to $150 and they started at $300. They are very nice stands and the Para's will bolt right on.

Parts Express High Mass stands - 26", they work great and they are only $112. If you are lucky, you can find them on sale for $99.

Those look nice JG. Will they be a little "fat" for the Para's? I mean, if you dont mind the speaker stand being wider then the speaker; it would be fine but I like a cleaner look.

Yes, they stick out a bit, but I don't even notice it anymore except when dusting. They also weigh 26lbs each without being filled.... I'm actually thinking about having a machine shop make me some custom top plates in the same black wrinkle finish to match the size of my speakers.

I like the StudioTech stands but I don't think they have mounting holes. They are well made, fairly inexpensive, and can be filled with shot (or sand) to make them incredibly sturdy (read: HEAVY). Are you worried about a child/animal running into them and knocking them over?

99 bucks, free shipping and they look good...that will work...

I hope you like those speakers; I love the 40's.

Those are basically identical to the medium mass stands that PE sells for $65/pr... except the column is square instead of round. I've owned them also and they work pretty well (I paid $48/pr on sale).
