I'm currently planning a 2.1 system and may eventually upgrade when I have more money to work with. Okay the equipment I'm working with are a Yamaha HTR-5960 Reciever, Ascend CBM-170SE fronts, and a SVS PB10-NSD sub. I need some help on how I should move the current furniture in my room, and where should I place the Sub?

Consider something like this.... Buy build some 4" thick absorption panels and place as follows:

Front center and rear corners = 3 ceiling/wall panels
front corner panels = 4 corner panels
front wall/side wall/ ceiling / rear wall = 8 first reflection point panels.

If you want to save some money, 2" will do fine for the side wall reflection points. I'd also see what kind of boundary interference response you're going to get from the front wall to speaker distance before deciding what thickness of material to put there.
