Hello, I'm new to these forums, and frankly, new to this whole audio/visualphile thing. I am in the army, and currently in Iraq, and am trying to plan a nice welcome home present to myself in the form of a new home theater system. I've benn doing a lot of research, and think I've decided on the Onkyo sr875 receiver, and rbh mc series speakers(if i can get them shipped to an APO address). I really have two questions...
1- the RBH mc-6c speakers have a suggested wattwge of 50-120 watts, while the Onkyo sr875 puts out 140 watts per channel. I will be using these only as satellite speakers, but i don't want to spend the money on them and then blow them up. Will i damage the speakers with that receiver?
2- The tv I currently own is a Sony 40" lcd, but with only 720p resolution. Do these new receivers let you choose what level to upscale video to, or does it automatically upscale it to 1080p? I would like to get a receiver with good upscaling for future upgrades to a new 1080p monitor.
Any help would be appreciated!!!

Nice gear list.
On your new system, keep in mind that the speakers are the most important component and budget accordingly. Yes, a receiver with video scaling will let you select the resolution (480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, etc.). I wouldn't worry too much (or spend too much) on the video scaling feature. Check out the option in the $500 price range like the Yamaha RX-V663 and Onkyo 605/606. You will money left to add an Oppo upscaling DVD player or PS3 for BluRay playback.

If you like RBH, check out the currently AH deals on the EMP speakers. They have a 5.1 package with EMP 30T floorstanders for $900. The EMP line is a step down from the RBH MC series (same as RBH TK series), but your are getting floorstanders vs. bookshelf speakers.

Audition speakers

Listen to several speakers, the best sound and the most bang for your buck will be had by getting the best speakers you can afford.

First spent on fronts
Second matching center
Third subwoofer ( doesn't have to match fronts or center)
Fourth surrounds ( doesn't have to match fronts or center or sub).

Just starting out I would get some really good front tower speakers and spend the rest on a receiver. RBH have fairly good reviews, but if you can go an listen to some other speakers.

Thanks for the advice..
i was planning on getting the floor standing mc-6ct's for my mains. I was mainly worried about the satellites. I should have thought about spending less on the upscaling to buy a better dvd player or ps3. Something to think about.
