Hello Everyone, First let me apologize for the long thread as I have a few question and I want to provide all the information i can.
About 5 years ago I bought a Infinity 7.1 speaker/subwoofer set model number TSS-750 along with a Denon AVR 1508 Reciever. Everything was amazing when I first got it and soon after I started having issues with the reciever, sent it out for warrarnty work multiple times and now the warranty is up and it doesnt work so I went out and bought a Yamaha v471.
During the time my first reciever was going back and forth for warranty work my infinity subwoofer stopped working, the stanby light would come on and no sound would come from it. So I figured the amp was blown so I put it in a closet for a few months. Well, for fun about 3 months ago I decided to take it out and see if it works.... and of course it started to work fine like nothing was ever wrong.
Since my reciever at the time was not working right i put the subwoofer back in the closet since I really had no use for it. Then, Yesterday I went out and bought the Yahama reciever, I was so excited to hook it all up and have my home theatre back again! well When I hooked everything back up it all worked besides the subwoofer, its doing the same thing it did before, the standby light is on and no sound comes from it besides a "thump" when I first power the subwoofer on.
my question is, is this a blown amp? why would it stop working, then work few months later, then stop working again? I know its not the reciever and I have all the subwoofer option turned on through the reciever menus. I should also add that this sub got very little use and when i did use it I never powered it over half.
As of now I cant get it to work so I decided I was going to buy a new one (unless someone here can help me fix mine). I wanted to buy brand new but i know someone that is selling the following items all for $250 and wanted an opinion if this is a good deal/worth it considering they are 5 years old. Should I pick them up or better off buying brand new stuff? The speakers I have are all very small (Infinity TSS-750)
the speakers the guy i know is selling are:
Klipsch ss1 rear speakers with stands
klipsch sf1 front speakers
klipsch kv1 center
klipsch ksw12 subwoofer
so although I only need a subwoofer at the moment, it would not hurt to upgrade my speakers also if you guys think those used Klipsch are a good deal.
