Hello,
Need a separate system that will play my vinyl at 2.1 since I need to run a sub with my L&R def tech mythos 4's along with playing movies at 5.1.
Considering the Emotivia Xpa-5 amp and the Oppo Bdp-103d DVD player to use as a pre amp/wifi/netflix streamer.
Sounds logical...
Front L&R-Mythos 4
Center-Mythos 3
Surrounds L&R-Mythos Gems
Sub-Super Cube 4000

Why separates and not a receiver?

FWIW, there is no "2.1 difrct stereo". there IS, however, stereo with bass directed to a common subwoofer, but it's still only two channels.

Also, you might want to specify a price range.

For 2.1, I highly recommend using an AVR or pre-pro that can Equalize the subs. For example, Audyssey XT32 Sub EQ + DEQ.

I used to think that "Direct" and "Pure Direct" was best, but since I "discovered" Audyssey Dynamic EQ (DEQ), I will never go back to Direct and Pure Direct for music and movies. The improvement in the bass sound with DEQ is night-and-day, black-and-white astounding to me.

I use Audyssey Bypass L/R + DEQ. It bypasses Audyssey for the front L & R, but retains the Sub EQ + DEQ.

The Yamaha RX-V1075 could be a choice; It's one of the very few AVRs which actually sports an integrated "phono in". One do-it-all receiver.
