Hi

Features needed

1. Good amplifier section for 5 channels.

2. Good processing for DTS, DD, DPL II

3. Sub out.

4. Good bass management,

5. Binding posts for all channels.

Nice to haves

1. Bass management different for fronts, vs center/surrounds.

2. Ability to bi-amp front speakers with (extra channels of amps) ie 7.1 vs. 5.1. I want to bi-amp in 5 channel mode not just stereo.

3. Ability to input SACD and DVD A digitally (if not now then in future)

4. Ease of connection to a PC based transport.

5. Room equalization/set up if it helps sound significantly.

Thanks

Shriram

Question too open ended

What is your budget ?

That will help narrow down the contenders. All the options you ask are available in receivers ranging in price from $500 - $5000.

I am not as concerned about budget as sound quality and having a receiver that I can keep for a while and that is easily re-sellable if needed. Max would be $1500 though.

The brand new Yamaha 2600 (will be out soon) or 4600. BTW, SACD and DVD-A are analog inputs, not digital. DTS-A is digital. The Onkyo 800 and 900 series are best for internet/pc hookup - wait for the 803 and 903 to come out before buying. I'm not sure of a release date.
