I have a 12 inch subwoofer in a room that is about 15 x 15. I have a prewire for the sub to be next to the seating position, but I am considering placing it in front, next to the TV. Two questions, is there a reason not to do this? If I do this, I should change it from 0 degrees to 180 degrees, right?

Put it in your listening position (the subwoofer itself... put it on your couch or chair) and then crawl around on the floor. Where it sounds the best, put it there... that's a good starting point. If there are a couple places that sound pretty good, choose the one that fits aesthetically the best.

I second this method. It works.

What about the 180 degree setting versus the 0 degree setting?

You'll just have to listen to it and try both ways. If you dont hear a difference dont worry about it, If you do, then leave it where it sounds best. ;)

There are a bunch of articles outlining how to correct your particular problem on the main forum. These should help you get started.
