Need Preamp/Amp recommendations

Need advice from fellow audioholics!

My current setup:
YAMAHA receiver (5 years old, forgot the model number).
Paradigm 90P tower speakers
Paradigm matching center channel speaker
JBL rears and a JBL subwoofer (works OK)
Samsung 61" DLP TV with only one DVI input.
Inputs are from Sony Prog. Scan DVD player and Comcast HDTV box.
AMC 2100-2 AMP (150W currently powering the front speakers but really for the rears).
I use either Monster cables or cables I got from Rams Electronics online.

I want to buy another 2 or 3 channel amp which can handle Movies and music (about 50-50 split). Also replace the receiver with another receiver or pre-amp that has HDMI/DVI switching and may be i-link input (not a must). I also want to add a SACD/DVD-AUDIO/DVI up-conversion DVD player (but this can wait).

My budget is <3k stretching to 3.5K.

I would like some recommendations so I do not ignore some good product out there. The new setup has to last me about 5/6 years. I know that the amps will last for years but the receiver technology seems to be changing fast.

Amp short list:
Parasound 1500A
Odyssey Stratos
AMC or Outlaw Monoamp for Center.

Receiver/Pre-Amp:
Outlaw 990 ($1100. Has DVI)
Marantz SR8500 (has DVI but no ilink. Retails $1500)
New YAMAHA RX-V4600 (HDMI, i-link and I like Yamaha).

Thanks in advance.

also might want to look at rotel 1068 pre & 1075 (5 x 125) or 1095 (5 x 200) amp. I listened to rotel's 1072 CD player & a rotel stereo receiver this weekend, and was generally impressed. I have also heard their 1098 pre/pro coupled with a Cary Cinema 7 (7 x 100) amp, which sounded very good as well. I'm still waiting to demo some rotel components at home. Gene has previously recommended using the yamaha 2500 receiver as a pre/pro & a 5 channel amp. I have not heard this combo, but it may also be an option to consider.

Have you considered the hot seperates tip by Gene? He suggests a Yamaha 2500 and the emotiva Big Dog Amp. In your case I'd swap it for the Yamaha 4600 and the Outlaw 755 5 channel amp. That is one beefy amp and one high tech receiver combo. It is $1300 for the amp and about $1700 for the receiver through an authorized dealer. You are now at $3000 and I don't think that there is anything out there that could touch this setup at this price.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Currently I've a 5.1 setup and with the Yamaha I can use the 2 front speakers (I never used them before). It has the DVI and iLink so it seems future proof. I need check out the Rotel.

What about Odyssey Stratos. I was not able to find any review or any comments on the Audioholics website.

Thx again.
