I have been using a DV-05 player with a Theta DS Pro Basic Dac, Naim Audio Nait2 and Linn Kan II speakers.
Unfortunately the DV-05 died yesterday. Fortunately, I got two years out of it for only $150.00. I don't think it's worth trying to fix, but I'm not sure what I should replace it with. I'd rather not spend more than $500. I can get a DV-09 floor sample that will come with a 2 year warranty for $498.00, but is purchasing old technology sensible? Perhaps the Denon 2200 DVD player would be a good choice? The Elite 47ai is more than I want to spend and I don't think the 45a is an attractive player. The Denon 2900 sounds like a great player, but again, more than I want to spend right now.
If I went with the DV-09, I could always add a Faroudja scaler later. The DV-09, however, would not play SACD or DVD-A. At this time, I don't forsee going beyond 2 channel music but SACD and DVD-A is becoming more readily available.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on this. Thanks!
