Hi everyone. I recently purchased on ebay a used Sony GDM-FW900 24" CRT.

I can't afford to freight ship it ($300+) But I do have an appropriately large box that I am going to ship, empty, out to California for the seller to place the monitor inside and then the box with monitor will be sent back via FedEx Ground.
The box has an outer dimension of 25x25x25' and then there is an inner 24x24x24" box with heavy bubble wrap sandwiched between the two. I am reinforcing the bottom of the inner box with 1/4" Plywood and filling it with packing material for him to use before he sends it back.
Dimensions
Height 19.7 in.
Width 22.54 in.
Depth 20.61 in.
Weight 92.61 lb.
SO THE QUESTION I HAVE is what orientation should that monitor be inside the box? I was thinking screen down on its face atop of foam or a pillow on top of the plywood. Or should it come in the normal screen forward orientation? If I do that I worry that the monitor stand may get smashed under the weight. I assume the heaviest part is the screen and having that pointed down would be best but I am not sure the 97 LBS on top will like it. One of my friends recommended screen up in a wedge of foam to hold the back of the monitor secure.
I have to send the box out before the end of the week. Just for your info to send a ~25lbs box of 25x25x25 out to California from New York is going to cost $68 and when filled with an estimated weight of 115lbs it will cost $82 to have it picked up and brought back.
