I just purchased a pair of used Aperion 6Ts I found on Audiogon, and now need to find a receiver to pair with them. Right now I am focused primarily on Pioneer receivers, for a variety of reasons including my wife loves the Ipad control app which will help her get over me purchasing even more home theater stuff.
Right now I'm focused primarily on either getting a 1121k/elite equivalent, and pairing it with a amp for the front channels, or getting a SC-25/35/55. I know the 25/35 used ICE amps and the 55 uses D3 amps. I also saw that the 25/35 were THX Ultra rated, but the 55 is only select rated, which worries me. Its not that my speakers are even THX rated, but it just seems worrisome that this would switch to a lower rating when the new amps are used.
It looks like i could get a used SC-25 for about $550, and SC-35 are about $850 on Amazon. Although neither would give me a warranty, which would be nice. I have a friend at best buy pricing out his discount on them so i can get a comparison, but i havent heard back from him yet.
Has anyone used the 1121K with an external amp? Its appealing since it has all the technology I'm looking for, and external amps are easy to come by so the lower power isnt too important to me.
