Okay, here's the situation...

I've got an Onkyo TX-SR602 reciever, and I bought the Bose Acoustimass 6 Seriess III speakers to go with them. The Bose speakers have the subwoofer, which plugs into the receiver, and all the satelittes plug into the sub. I have 2 fronts, 1 center, 2 rears (and the sub). Everyone (even the guy who installed my DirecTV) told me that I can get better speakers for the same price or cheaper. I am trying to find speakers that sound good, are comparable in price ($700-$800) and aren't big. I don't want large speakers and would like something that I could mount from a the wall, ceiling or a stand. I am totally lost here. I went with the Bose because of the name, but that is obviously an error on my part (as most people assume they are great speakers).

Anyway, like I said, I am lost and any suggestions on what kind of speakers I should look to get would be big help!!!

These sites will help!

http://www.factorydirectsound.com/speakers/home-theater-systems.html

I have found the above linked site to be of great help since I am a Klipsch fan. They do also deal in Infinity as well.

Pricetool.com and electronics-expo.com are also great places to compare prices and speakers.

www.avguide.com is a great great detailed site that reviews all aspects of the home theater system. If you have a little time to read reviews they have a great many on file for no charge. Your bound to find a system that is within your price range and size.

The Infinity TSS 750 system designed by my buddy Bill when I was there last year are the best Bose beaters I know of. They've received rave reviews and its all well earned. A best buy....

take a look at the Mordaunt-Short and Fosgate packages at accessories4less.com

you can also look at the Athena and Onkyo packages at bestpriceaudiovideo.com

the Mordaunt-Short package does include a pair of floorstanding mains, but they are not what I would call large or intrusive. it also includes a quality subwoofer for a total price of $ 750.

Onkyo has some of the better sub-$600 speaker packages you can buy. I don't know much about the Fosgate, but the specs look good and the price is unbeatable.
