Need Help

Hi all, I just received my AKG K701 headphones and have them plugged into a Harman Kardon CDR-26. The output jack is rated at 1v @ 32 Ohms. How does this translate to mW's? I just ordered a Val E10 amp rated at 300mW into 100 Ohms. Will this amp reach louder SPL's and have more dynamics than my H/K? Thanks.

I don't have any answers to your question. I have found that some receivers will not drive the 701's. My Denon 4806 does a decent job, but I really have to turn the volume up compared to my other headphones. You might also want to ask your question over at www.headfi.com

That depends on how much current the headphone out will supply. But since that's a dedicated headphone amp, I'd say yes.

By the way, you can expect close to a watt to hit those headphones from that headphone amp.
