Have a Yamaha HTR-5890, doing a 5.1 channel setup. I have a HD upconvert dvd player the optical output(of the dvd player) is connected to the receiver. the HDMI output(of the dvd player) is connected to the TV. I am having trouble with the 2 front speakers. I'm getting no sound out of the front speakers. When I run through Yamaha's auto setup on the receiver, end up getting Error-1 (which is no front speakers). Checked all the cables and they are fine. Checked the speakers and they are fine. When I had the system first set up there was sound coming out of the front and the center speakers but the two rears were very very quiet. Now the rears are fine, but there is no sound coming out of the front. Any help would be much appreciated.

The first question that comes to mind is: Do you have the speaker selector set to "B" while the fronts are, as they should be, hooked up to the "A" terminals?

Not the same thing. Press the speaker A button on the front of the receiver to be sure.
