Need help with speaker layout in our church

We have purchased a pair of JBL JRX125's for use in our sanctuary. The ceilings are about 13-15 feet high. We have had a single one for awhile now and have it hung from the ceiling on the left side above the pulpit hanging by chains. We finally got another matching speaker and I came here hoping the pro's could shed some insight into our speaker placement. We will play some music by CD but most is from our choir group. We will be hanging the other one tomorrow. Thank you soo much for any and all help/suggestions!

God Bless,
JP

Well, given my druthers, for general sound reinforcement I'd go for hanging them right next to each other, high above and slightly in front of the pulpit, facing slightly down and away from each other. This will give good dispersion and by having them in front ofthe pulpiut will help minimize feedback.

If your only interest is playing back pre-recorded music then I'd mount them high up towards the corners, again, facing slightly downwards but this time aiming slightly inwards, each aiming about 1/3 of the way in from their respective rear corners.

That's going to be a tough room to cover. I was initially thinking along the lines of the EVI series (Electrovoice), which is designed for rectangular rooms, but the pulpit only 3 feet from the front row and only a 15 foot ceiling....I dunno.

You might end up with a distributed system.

You really should find an independant (doesn't sell equipment) consultant to help with this.

I'd agree with Mark. Set them close together, centered, but firing down and out at maybe 30 degrees. You need coverage - not imaging. Next is treating the room for decay to get good speach intelligibility.
