Need Help With Optoma Lamp

Hopefully somebody out there can help me out.

I looking for a replacement lamp for an Optoma H78-DC3. I have had one on order for a few weeks now and I just found out they are on back-order from Optoma till the end of April.

As I stated in a previous thread the lamp has gone bad with less than 600 hours. I'm not happy about that but I put that behind me and ordered a replacement from company "A". They told me it would ship in 3 to 5 days from Californication. Couple weeks go by, no lamp. Give them a call and they say, "We'll look into it." Finally give up and call them again after no call and find out they didn't have it and ordered it form Optoma and it will be on back-order till sometime after March.

I start calling around and find a company last Friday that goes and checks their stock and says, "We can ship that out today next day and you'll have it Monday. Call us back Monday and we'll give you a tracking number."

I'm thinking "COOL, pay a few bucks more but get the bulb now".

Monday I call to get the tracking number and they say they'll e-mail it. Monday night mo e-mail and no bulb.

I call up Tuesday to find out what's up. They'll call me later. Call 4 hour later. They call me back. Call another 4 hours later. They'll call my tomorrow.

I finally get the call this morning and it ends up they didn't have the bulb and they had to get it from Optoma. Optoma told them the bulb is on back-order till April 28th.

Needless to say I'm not a happy camper right now.

Can somebody out there tell me who might have this bulb in stock?

Note To Optoma Owners

I just heard back from Optoma:

I e-mailed Optoma and asked about whether the lamp is on backorder and for how long. They replied, "That is correct.We are currently out of stock.The estimated delivery time for this lamp is April but we could get it sooner.I apologize for any inconvience that this may have caused."

So I wrote back and asked if they knew of any retailer who might keep them in stock. They replied back, "I'm sorry but all of our retailers get the lamps from us. We don't have them so they won't either. I will try and get some more info for you regarding the backorder. If I hear anything new I will let you know."

If you need a bulb, buy it well in advance since nobody carries them in stock :mad:

What can I say:mad: Not much.

Were any of those dealers in NY city? Some there are notorious about what you reported. How about the one who said it was on the shelf.
Call your credt card co for a charge from those bags:eek: They do that, charge first, worry later.:mad:


Is it under warranty at least?

Yes, they charged my card already and charged for FedEx next day air. AIN'T THAT SPECIAL!

No, it's not under warranty. Less than 600 hours but bought last September (only 90 days on bulb)

Specifically Brooklyn. Very notorious for this. Among other (con) games they play.
It's a shame that these people thrive on cons, and have absolutely no morals.
I am not saying that about the company you dealt with in particular, but it is well noted that
the easiest place to get ripped off is these particular areas.

Honest/sensitive/trustworthy people to deal with are a diamond in the rough nowadays.
(basically someone with decent morals)

Hopefully you git a credit? Called the credit card company?

You should write a very complimentary feedback on their web page, full of zeros:D

Nobody I've tried so far has this bulb (and I've tried for almost 2 months now). All I know is if I have to go another month without my theater I'll go mad. :eek:

The factory itself is backordered till April 28th.

I was hoping to find somebody who has one on-hand.

I'm about to kill him for buying this projector! :mad:

I'm ready to buy a plasma or LCD and forget projectors.

We haven't had ANY luck with projectors so far.

News Flash

Well, just talked with Optoma and found out the replacement bulb should (maybe) be in stock after the second week of April.

It's getting old not having my theater since February. :(

Yes, actually I have had the bulb on order with them since the end of February. They're the ones who told me they would "next day" the bulb to me when they didn't have it in stock. The only reason I kept the order with them is to stay on the waiting list.

From what I understand, every one of these dealers drop ship from the factory. The factory hasn't had the bulb, so nobody has had the bulb.

THANKS ANYWAY :(

2 weeks and counting down............

Hurray!

I am the proud owner of a new projector lamp!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

It arrived earlier than Optoma anticipated.

NOTE TO SELF: Buy another bulb while they are in stock.

Great news:D If the shelf life is good;) buy it, and you are not planning an upgrade to 1080p projection.:D

Hopefully I'll get more than a couple of years out of the Optoma before it blows up, unlike my Yamaha. 1080p is nice, but not worth the extra money now.
