I am hoping to get opinions on what might work best for me for a HTIB. I am moving into a house next month that has a pretty open basement, so not a specific enclosed room with four walls. The main area is 38’ x 38’ but the main viewing/sitting area will be about 19’ x 19’ I’m guessing. Right now I have a 58” Samsung plasma with an XBOX 360, Wii, and PS3. The floor is all tile but we were thinking about putting down an area rug underneath the sectional.

What things should or shouldn’t I look for considering it’s a pretty open space? I’ve looked at 5.1 and 7.1 systems from Yamaha, Onkyo, and Polk Audio although I’ll probably only use a 5.1 speaker set up since I don’t have side walls in the immediate viewing area. I’ve even considered an sound bar system from Polk audio knowing I won’t get true surround sound, but I won’t have speakers everywhere. I'd like to stay under $600.

Any opinions, suggestions, thoughts are appreciated!
