First let me explain a little about whats going on. I have a pair of Yamaha 6 1/2 inceiling speakers in my bedroom. I have a volume control in that bedroom to control their volume. I have the bedroom running off of my Yamaha amp/reciever via zone 2. When i turn the volume up above -30 on the amp, the volume control in the wall vibrates..... im not sure whats going on unless im putting more watts through the volume control than it will handle. Im pretty sure its not rated as high as the speakers, but i didnt know if you overpowered the control it would rattle.

Here are the speakers http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8285866&type=product&id=1171672433753

Here is the volume cotrole http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=248230-60784-364769-01-V1&lpage=none

Thanks,
Tommy

The volume control is rated for 100 wpc, In my experience it is not uncommon for in-wall volume controls to vibrate or even make sound in some cases. Everything is probably just fine if your speakers work as they should.

They do work just fine, only i can actually hear the volume control over the music if i turn the speaker volume down while the amp stays at -30 constant.

One thing you can try is playing with the impedance setting on the volume control, I have found that the amount of noise they make can also be affected by what setting its on.

Is that what the jumper on the circuit board is? If so i seen it when i was installing it. There were no instruction on how to set it. If you have any idea let me know and ill give it a try.

Thanks,

I dont know about that particular model but usually they have the jumper, one for each channel and they have pins labeled in pairs of speakers and you set it for whatever your running. Since your running one pair instead of setting it on 1X or whatever you can try setting it on 2X and see if the sound gets better or worse. I dont think I would try higher than 2X because you'll have a high impedance load for the reciever.

VC vibration.

I had a similar problem with a Russound volume control. Contacted Russound for a replacement but they would not honor the warranty because it was purchased on Amazon. This VC can make noise or vibrate whenever the source has a significant amount of bass. For example, CD w/ bass vs. Radio.

I am using 3-4 pheonix gold VCs for the other locations in my distribution audio system and these have no problems with noise or vibration.

Try turning down the zone 2 volume on the receiver to see if it reduces the vibration while allowing a suitable max volume in the room. The jumpers are for impedance matching when you have 2 or more speakers connected to each channel of the amplifier.

Im using an older HTR-5460 Yamaha. It has A&b speaker select buttons, so i cant really adjust both zones seperately. When i get a few extra hours, im gonna pull the VC and check the jumper. Ill report back after i do. Thank you both for the responses.

Peace,
Tommy
