Hi,

First let me say this is a great website and forum. I found it a few days ago and have been reading alot. Now on to why I am posting here.

I want to setup a home theater system in my den. The problem is my wife doesn't want floor speakers, so I have been looking and researching ceiling/wall mounted speakers and HT receivers.

For the receiver I am looking at Harmon Kardon A/V635 and Yamaha RX-V1600 and RX-V2500. These all seem to be good receivers from what I have read. Do you think these are a good choice? What would you recommend?

The speakers I am considering are JBL Soundpoint SP6C, JA Audio JA-TC62 and Klipsch Quintet III. Do you think these are a good choice? What woud you recommend?

I have the 55" Hitachi HDT52 plasma. This unit has the power swivel base and sits across a corner on a low profile A/V cabinet. I understand that having ceiling mounted speakers would not be as good as floor speakers but I have to compromise.

Attached are a couple of room layout pictures. Where would you mount the speakers for optimum performance? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Daryl

HT Design / Setup

Hi,
I´ll be glad to help You, but I´ll need more info, like the room materials, and size, including the height, size of the window´s & Door´s.
I can help You ( of course, no charge ! :D ) making the design, starting with the room acoustics, and the type of speaker which would be the best for that dimensions.
In order to find the right speaker for Your HT, You have to know the most important details of it, including the coverage, SPL, and of course Freq. Response.

So, send the pics over, including all the dimensions, and I´ll draw it with CAD, so We can do the acoustical design. ( I have the software )

Saludos !

Thanks Vierling,

The room walls, ceilings are sheetrock and the floors are carpet. The ceiling height is 8 feet. The window is covered with plantation shutters. The door opening is 32" and 72". The 72" door opening does not have doors, it is open to a foryer. The window is a 6050. I have attached a bmp file, if you save the file and then open it with windows paint I think you can see the dimensions clearly. I can send you a .DWG file but the format here want allow it, I could probably email it to you.
Let me know if you can not see the dimensions on the attached file.

Thanks

Daryl
