Hey all,

I'm looking for help designing a new home audio set up. I have the table and tv but nothing else. I have about 600 sq ft in the room. Basically, i would like your recommendations from top to bottom. Sound is key. Thanks so much.

Budget? Number of channels (speakers) desired?

600sq feet that is a huge room, like 20'x30'? what are your ceiling heights? how far from the listener are the front speakers going to located..

I would imagine you are going to need to spend some money on subs to pressurize that room....

I would go with
$2000 VTF-15H DualDrive Package
$1159 for 3-340se's and 2 200se's to complete the 5.2 CMT-340 SE Mini-Tower Loudspeaker add for stands if needed...
for electronics I would go with
this avr DENON AVR-3311CI 7.2-Channel Network Home Theater Receiver | Accessories4less if your listening position is far and you find the avr doesn't cut it and you need a little more power you can always add an amp to power your front 3 XPA-3 | 200W x 3 | Emotiva Audio | High-end audio components for audiophiles and videophiles, spanning 2-channel music systems, as well as 5.1 and 7.1 home theaters. Products include multichannel amplifiers, stereo amplifiers, and monoblock amplifier and let the avr power the surrounds...

For a room that size that is what i would go with, my HT is over 300sq ft and I have a similar system {same speakers, but dual vtf2's instead of the 15's} with a 1000 watt amplifier and it is effortless, I can play it all day with no issues, where when I had the avr running the system I cooked a couple, {granted the older speakers I had were a lot tougher to run then the ascends...}
Your going to be around $4000 I don't see you getting away much cheaper in that size room

Are you wanting this primarily for music or movies? Are aesthetics important at all or just sound quality? Are you partial to towers or bookshelves? What is the room used for? Strictly home theater or other living space as well? What is your budget? A few of these answers would help guide people quite a bit....

Thanks for the responses. For starters, i have the turntable and tv. Typo. This will be for music mostly with the occasional movie. Ceiling is 12 ft. Listeners are 15 feet from front speakers. Budget is unlimited to a point but I'd prefer to keep things reasonable. I guess let's start with the receiver (phono amp if needed) and work out to cd player, speakers, etc. Would like to be able to play music, Moore's from the computer as well. Thanks again.

Music mostly occasional TV, I like it, so a 3.2 would be ideal for you? a left and right with a center?

This is a proven combo I have put together a few times..
you can get a pair of ascend acoustic towers, with a pair of HSU uls15's, and since you have the tv a denon avr {you can get decent avrs for around $500}, that with a center will put you under $6000.... with a room that size if you had the room and budget for dual dual drives that would add a couple thousand but be insane...

Lmc,
Does the Denton AVR have a phono in? If not, is their an amp you would recommend. My turntable is MM. What manufacturers would you recommend for subs, blu Ray.

you can get a 33-- it has a phono input, as do most of them... for subs I would recomend HSU, they {IMO} have the best bang for your buck...
