Need help with HDMI cable

just got a hdtv with HDMI connection but my cable box has DVI. I already know i need a adaptor , my question is what is the difference in the adaptors cause they range from 50-400 depending on size,

you might as well just buy a cable designed to go from DVI to HDMI.

they only cost just a couple of bucks more than the adapter and you won't have to worry about the cat pulling the adapter out. one less connection is one less place something can go wrong.

stash the cable you have. one day a friend will need one and you can save him (or her) the $ 25 to 400 a new HDMI cale costs. :)

well i guess i should have made myself a little clearer what i meant to say is what is the difference in the prices of these cables, i mean is a hundred dollar cable better than a 50 dollar cable? if so why and what should i look for.

PS i didn't mean adaptor i meant the hdmi to dvi cable thingy (one cable with hdmi on one end and dvi on the other)
