Need help with Energy speaker matching

Here is what I am looking at in an Energy 5.1 setup:

Fronts: RC-30
Centre: RC-Mini Centre
Surrounds: RC-Mini
Sub: ESW-C8

AV Receiver: Denon AVR-790

Keep in mind that this is maxing out what I want to spend.

I'm confident with everything except I am slightly worried the RC-Mini Centre won't be able to keep up with the RC-30s up front. I know how important a good centre channel is but the RC-Mini Centre is the ideal size and works with my budget.

Any help would be great!

Cheers.

The Mini may not be the best option, but you'd have to pony up a lot more for the LCR. The Mini should keep up with the 30s since it's a hair more sensitive. I don't think you'll be dissatisfied.

If it were me, I'd save up a touch longer and get the LCR. It is a better center, better match and could potentially save you money vs. buying the Mini and then upgrading to the LCR.

Just my .02

Thanks but it's not a matter of money, just what I feel I want to spend on a HT system. I have other interests that require my wallet to be pillaged. :)

I was going to do the RC minis all around with the matching mini centre, but then came across a fantastic deal on the RC30s.

Also, for 2-channel music, the 30s are a nice upgrade.

Try setting the crossover frequencies to:

80 Hz for the RC30 L&R
100 Hz for the RC mini center
80 for the RC mini surrounds

and they will sound good.

By brother has a pair of Energy bookshelves and they sound very good, especially for the price. Excellent bass and midbass from what I remember. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
