Need help with digital cable and setup

All,
I have finished setting up my system with a Sanyo PLV-Z5 projector, JVC RX-D702B receiver and connecting a Scientific Atlanta cable box (8300HD). I've got my receiver connected to the projector with the HDMI out. Using the HDMI input, my Samsung Blu-ray player, but have my cable box connected throught the component inputs. I have an HDMI cable that I will be trying this evening, but I can't see why that would be the problem. All DVDs work great, but when watching HD programming on the cable box it becomes fuzzy at times with vertical lines periodically. I've had the cable company replace the box and run a new cable directly into my home theater, only to do the same thing. They claim it is my setup, but can't explain what it could be. Any thoughts or experience with this behavior? Thanks in advance.

Isolate the problem.

It can be either one of four things. The signal itself, the STB, the receiver or the projector. Remove one item at a time until the problem goes away.

If you're not doing it already, run the problem source directly to the projector. This takes the receiver out of the circuit.

If the problem goes away, it's something funky in the receiver.

If the problem does NOT go away, it's either in the projector or the STB. Replace them, one at a time. If you get e new STB and the problem still occurs, it's most likely in the projector.

If you can get hold of another HDTV (Yeah, I know, it ain't easy), feed the souce directly to that and see if the problem goes away.

If you've replace virtually everything, then you can be damned sure it's the signal but, since they have replaced both your feed line and the STB already, somehow I doubt this.

Thread: Need help with digital cable and setup

I just spoke to someone that may have seen the same sort of response, but forgive my ignorance, I'm getting this information second-third-fourth hand. They said they saw similar behavior and it had to do with frequency interference and had to put something on the front of the box. Now this all confuses me because 1) I'm not sure what they are talking about and 2) why would that interference be in place?

Not sure if this sheds any light on the subject.

As for the suggestions so far, I will definitely start eliminating devices and test.
