Right now I am running onkyo 605 with and cerwin vega LS 5's and 10in cv sub. Looking for 2 more speakers to complete this upgrade. Should I just get 2 more of the same or would it be wise to upgrade to larger for the front surrounds. Price range is around $100 to $175. Any suggestions please? Nice to be on the board. Its a very helpful site.

First Off - Welcome to Audioholics Nattielight :)

I would say if your happy with the sound of your setup... then indeed just add another set of the LS 5's...

If it's not broken, don't fix it...

A little more info on my current situation. Right now I have an older Yamaha receiver 5.1. Santa will be bringing me the Onkyo 605. I am working on a limited budget. My current speakers are the CV ls5's. I am planning on upgrading to a more quality setup at 7.1. down the road. I need 2 more bookshelfs for now. My thinking is to move 2 of the L5's to the back for surrounds and upgrade the 2 fronts. Trouble is, too much info has totally confused me on what to get. $200-225 will probably be all I can go on the fronts. Any ideas on what would help. Home theater is my primary function. Although I do like to rock out when the wife is away. She hates the thought of all this.

Within that budget, I will recommend these HERE

They are great speakers, built extremely well for the cost.
Oh by no means can they compete with speakers costing 3 times as much.
But I still do not know how they can build a speaker of that quality for as cheap as they do.

I had a set, just for testing purposes, I do recall they had quite good lower end on them.
However I do recall them with a hole in the midrange.
I'm sure with some modification (extra bracing, internal fill, etc..) they could be improved upon.

And although I have not heard these surround speakers, I have been told for the cost they are very good.
These here

Anyhow, it was just a suggestion considering the current limited budget.;)

And welcome to the biggest addiction going. ;)

Thats not alot of money to play with considering you want to upgrade. Also consider that when you begin upgrading your fronts, you'll need to upgrade the center channel to match the front as well eventually. Is it possible for you to hold off for another year squirrling away whatever cash you can get so you're sitting around maybe $500 to $550 for a pair of fronts? My thinking is that if you get better quality fronts, you could do without your current center channel. Move it to the back letting the two front speakers act as a phantom center channel and the center channel you had could be the rear channel. Then you can save for a matching center channel speaker in another year or so. That buys you 6.1. All you need then is to buy one more L5 to complete your 7.1. Just tossing out ideas.
