Okay to not be equidistant between side surrounds and height speakers? Room config won't allow. Will audessey take care of that? Thanks in advance.
Audessey will help up to a point. It will adjust for time delay (speaker distance) and speaker level so that the sound will be fairly even in the main seating position. That's going to depend, of course, on just how far off centre we're talking about. Unless you have a dedicated home theatre space, most systems involve some form of compromise. I would not allow that to stop me from installing a system though if you can get the speakers in reasonable locations. If you have a newer AVR with XT32, use the measurement mic and make multiple measurements as per the manual, and not just in the main seating position. That will help out for other seating areas. If the speaker positions are very bad, sometimes it's better to do without.
