I have a Sony a/v receiver that gives out 100x6 and I have two big speakers that are like the one's at nightclubs (15' with 6 tweeters... Gemini speakers.. I think) and I have two smaller speakers and a center channel speaker for surround sound. Here is my problem: My receiver's volume goes up to about number 30?? When listening to regular music on a cd, I have to put the receiver like on 20 or 21 to hear really good bass and for it to sound nice and loud. Some cd's sound with too much bass and some without hardly any bass and too much tweeter. I would figure that the amp/ receiver should have to be put at 20-21 to hear it really loud and get that bass going.. it there something I am lacking... better amp/ speakers?? I'm new to home a/v stuff so I not that savy in what should I do.. I though maybe buying a subwoofer may help???

Quite possibly neither.

Not all Cd's a re created equal. Simply put, some CD's simply suck. Some CD's sound excellent.

As far as your level setting on the receiver, I wouldn't worry about it as long a you can get sounds that are "loud" enough for you.

At some point, when your listening tastes gel a little more, you might find you will want other speakers, though. Speakers that are "loud" for PA work might not sound as good at lower levels in a home environmernt.

I would only add that maybe those speakers are a bit inefficient and therefore power hungry, and you MIGHT benefit from buying speakers that are more efficient (say 90dB/w/meter) or get a more powerful amp.

Yeah, I'd have to agree that it sounds like an efficiency issue with the speakers.

Need help in connecting the receiver with the syb-woofer

Hello,
I am a new member. I have a Sony receiver. It has a output for a sub-woofer. The connection type is a RCA type connector.

I have a Jensen Sub-Woofer JPC25 with a ordinary wire-clip interface:

Now is there a way to connect these two. For now I bought a cheap RCA audio cable and stripped off the RCA jack from one end.

Is there a better solution.
Regards,
APPU
