Need help positioning a plasma

I am a general contractor and I have a project that requires hanging a plasma on a wall in a new addition I am building. I need to know the best height at which to hang the tv. The distance from the tv to where a person would be sitting on a couch is 10'. I am looking for the best height off of the finished floor whether it be to the bottom, center, or top of tv. Any help is appreciated or a direction to finding the help. Thanks!!!

At viewing position (usually seated), you want the eyes to be dead center on the screen if possible. If not, then you'll want to see if you can get away with angling the unit down using a bracket that can be manipulated.

There's a reason for the average height of rear-projection TVs. To get a rough approximation, you can simply go to Best Buy or Circuit City and take some measurements to see where the center lines average.

Hope that helps!

While ideal to have the unit center screen to eye level, a lot of the glitz of having a wall mounted plasma is going to be lost. I think most would want it to look like a picture hanging on the wall vs a television...purely for esthetic vs operational reasons. One of the great advantages of a plasma display is that by viewing it off angle you're still not going to lose anything. I sit about 10 feet back from my plasma display and the bottom of the display is about eye level from my seating position. Might not be optimal, in some respects, but it works out quite well....kinda like sitting in the front half of a theater.

Hi
The main reason for a standard screen height 1/3 to 1/2 up on smaller screens 1/3 up on larger screens when the eye is in the neutral rest position is for viewer comfort remember you will be seated for 2 or more hours with the eye focused on a stationary object
if the height is too low or too high eye and or neck, sholder ect.. fatigue will set in and make your viewing experience less than optimal You should also consider the position that you view in (reclined or upright) An articulating wall mount can compensate for an aggressive height but you will be sacrificing performance due to a exaggerated viewing angle and glare can be a problem as well. On a side note good Plasma's are heavy one should consider this before the install Mounting a heavy Plasma on a Partioned wall
and hitting only 2 studs is not a good idea You should either box the studs in or use a backer board to hit 3 studs Mounting a Plasma above a fireplace is also tricky first wood burning and plasma's dont mix and second fireplace brick or rock is not a secure surface to mount If you do need to mount above a fireplace use a ceiling mount with an extension pole and make sure your damper is working correctly or convert to gas

Cheers
