Need help pickin a DVD player for a buddy.

Hey guys, been a while for me but here I am. Well lets get to it. I have a buddy looking to get a DVD player around the $300-$400 range. What do you all think is the best he can get for around that price.

What are the needs of your friend with regard to the DVD player? Just play DVD movies on a standard TV?

Hes basicly just gonna use it for watchin DVDs on a TV. But he has a decent set up already just no DVD player. Hes probably gonna end up hooking it up coax and Componet. But he wants HDMI for later down the road.

Oppo 971H unless MB may be a problem. Sony NS70 also a good choice. Panasonic S97, Pioneer 59avi.

That oppo 971H is reviewed at this site as are other DVD players. While it has very high video test scores, it has other issues
