Were actually arguing over this at our house . We have been spoiled rotten listening to our paradigm reference 100 V3 with all the components center , big sub woofer , two rear speakers and it Denon AVR receiver that would drive a sane man crazy . I am having a hard time justifying selling it when I think we will be very hard-pressed to find something more compact and less obtrusive that will give us anywhere near the quality of sound we've been getting from the system . However , the living room and our new condo is really small

Can anybody recommend a system or components that will give us really great sound watching movies , TV and listening to music that doesn't take up so much space ? Any help at all would be appreciated . I might add that the Denon 3845 has been more than a challenge to set up . We would like to avoid that hassle in the future .

By Reference, I assume you mean the Studio 100v3. As a former Paradigm owner, I really enjoyed them for Home Theater. The CC690 was an excellent center channel.

You would be surprised what you can do with two bookshelves and a couple of subs.

1. Budget?
2. Room Size?
3. Room Configuration?

We have: Studio Reference 100 v3s, PW2200 sub, CC470 v3 Center, ADP 470V3 rears, Denon AVR 3805.

The wall we have to put the mains, sub, and center is on 87 1/2 long. The room is actually 12'6" x 16. Budget is $3500 or so. including receiver. We are considering RSL CG24 5.1 and Paradigm Millenia One speaker system and subwoofer just looking on the net. Haven't heard any of them... Open to any help. We mainly watch TV and Movies, but I have experienced general headaches or fatigue...don't know what you call it, from nasty quality systems to the point I had to leave the room. Just grated on my ears when at other people's homes.

Help? Thanks!

I think you're setting up us or yourself for failure. I think you should adjust the budget or expectations.
Fact: your Mains alone were $2200/pr msrp
Fact: If you love listening to music very loud - very few smaller speakers would be able to achieve that.

Setting up denon (or another brand) AVR is unavoidable, but luckily since 2006, Denon improved setup significantly so - less guesswork and quicker setup.

I would almost recommend keeping your nice Denon, but without HDMI ports - it's dragging you down.

Brands to consider in your price range: Ascend CMT-340SE, Philharmonitor , Reaction Audio S-15 for only $500 is a big bargain - you could your old sub, but it won't be nearly as powerful.

Look at the PSB Imagine Mini bookshelf and center - the word is
really nice/good and they are not a wimp

Buy something cheaper for the surrounds.

Get a nice sub for around $500 - if you want something smaller
than the Reaction - then look at HSU or Rthymik

Also look at NHT Absolute Zero

Just add a receiver if you desire
