Need to sell the following equipment.
I have NO IDEA what it is worth.
Need to price it so it moves, but don't want to give them away.

Infinity Alpha 50 speakers.
As new...probably five hours total on them.

What's this stuff worth and how do I sell it?
(Shipping???? these suckers are HEAVY!!!)

Thank you!

Paul

A few starting places you may want to consider Paul is eBay and Audiogon. Ebay may have some other sellers of the Infinity Alpha speaker line and you can somewhat gauge the going price if you're able to find some of the Apha 50s for sale.

Audiogon has lots of classifieds listings, currently doesn't look like there are any Alphas being sold, though. AudiogoN also goes so far as to provide used pricing for most A/V equipment using their Blue Book feature. This is ideal, but also comes w/a price of $20/mo., $50/yr, so that likely won't be terribly cost-effective for you unless you're selling more equipment, but it can obviously give you the most realistic value of the Alphas once you've factored in their age, use and condition. You may also want to strongly consider selling locally if possible, as the shipping costs of these guys will likely eat into your profit margin and may not be worthwhile to ship.

Good luck w/your sale and let me know if I can help any further... -TD

Also do a search on Craig's List. After the local stuff is displayed, they usually show a nationwide return. I believe I saw some Alphas listed recently although you can't tell what shape they are in.

If you don't want to dork with shipping I'd suggest listing them on craigslist.

What finish are they?

The Alpha series replaced the Interlude series if I remember correctly. They are definitely good speakers. If you can't imagine letting them go for $300 or less, I would keep them, because that seems to be their basic price target. $400 being a top stretch for one of the lighter wood finishes. Audiogon is your second best bet, audiogon users understand shipping, and they understand mint condition. Ebay is a last resort and a royal pain for large speakers, avoid if at all possible.

If I listed them on craigslist I'd probably start with $350. I would recommend taking high quality images and using photobucket or some other image host to upload the images instead of using craigslist as the host (they compress the images to a point of absolute ridiculousness that there's almost no point in putting them on there).

If I listed them on audiogon I would probably put the starting price at $400 for a classified listing.
