Need help on upgrading my home theater

I'm new here but have decent knowledge about speakers and home theater devices. I'm hoping to do a big upgrade on my speakers on black Friday to save a few dollars but can spend about 2,500 more or less if worth the cash. I want to upgrade my current 5.1 system. Currently use Polk cs20 center with Polk tsi400 ad L and R. rear is Polk Tsi200. Sub is a 12 inch Polk psw12. Receiver is Sony 860 (I think). Anyway what is the best speakers I can buy to have much better sound. Looking for high quality over loudness. Mostly looking to buy a new 5.0 system for the 2,500 then upgrade the rest later (will most likely buy the svs 16 inch ultra subwoofer). Would greatly appreciate any advise. And for reference 90% movies and TV 10% music. Large room open to about 800 square feet.

Hi Dylan.

So budget of 2500... 5.0 kit is what ur lookin for. I cannot, nor will I tell you what to buy. I'm chiming in because I am currently shopping for new gear myself: replacing a 7.1 system and going 7.2.

Please refer to these two threads of recent, asking the same question pretty much:

New gear advice

Check out reviews for speakers you want to buy / can afford. Have a budget for what you want to spend / and what you might be willing to spend if all else fails. ;) (that's what I have, and am probably going to use!)
Cross reference that with speakers that you can personally do an audition on sight at a shop.
Also, cross reference against return policy for distributors/online retailers that will allow you to return them if you don't like them.
I personally will urge you to be cautious of the latter if for no other reason than the hidden costs of boxing up speakers time and again to return them for another set (carbon footprint!). ;)

if you want suggestions, see above links, and do some research. You will find, I'm certain, the same reviews I read, and decide what interests you and your target budget. Try to find a way to listen to them if you can!
$2500/5.0?
Maybe: ELAC, KEF, Emotiva, Monitor Audio, Fluance, SVS. Also, a lot of cats here like Philharmonics, but they might not be right for your focus. These are only meant for hints, please. Just to get you started on your search. (I started with these but am still not decided... auditioning speakers starting in a week, maybe two.)

Happy Hunting,
R
