I am buying my first home audio system and don't know very much. I have just been reading reviews mostly. My living room will be 17 by 18 and I will be wanting to do everything with this system(movies, videogames, music, and feeling like I am at the game). Since i cant go overboard with power (condo)I didnt know if some of the expensive stuff was unneccessary. I was leaning toward a denon product(1906, 2106, or 3805), and then I have only heard the boston acoustics vr1. I was also looking at infinity primus 360, or beta 50. I was just going to start off with two fronts, and then add things later on. I wanted to make sure I that I also got something that I could easily add on to. So am I headed in the right direction or should I start over. Like I said its a condo so I dont want to piss the neighbors off but would like a nice systemto enjoy. Ididnt know how much of a differenc ein sound the receivers would make since I cant go too too loud. I dont have too many stores around me to go and listen to that many brands. So what should I do, any advice would be appreaciated. Thanks

Welcome!

The choices you listed are all decent, but you should definitely not limit yourself to just those. Try to find some hi-fi shops in the area and start listening. I'm sure you can find something in your budget that sound excellent. Your approach is a good one as well. It's much more satisfying to buy good speakers a few at a time rather than go all out and get crap.

I do have a question though: What is your budget for the project right now?

I wanted to stay around 5 - 7 hundred for the receiver, and around 300 - 600(pair) for the speakers. Are there a lot better speakers or receivers than I listed. I dont know any brand names or anything. I know I need to listen but most of the websites on have certain products. I have no idea what to ask for.
