NEED HELP! Isolated room vs. Family Room

 I have a dilemma and need your opinions.

I am currently using a family room for my HT and music. It is 13x19, and has two openings (hallway and kitchen), with three windows. My TV is 55" Rear projection (non-HD). Speakers are PSB 6.5" mains and Center, with PSB 5.25" surrounds and SVS Sub to come. Seating is to the side and oblique to the set at about 10 feet away from screen.

I am in the process of converting an attic space over the garage which is almost detatched from the rest of the house. Without sheetrock even, there is very little loud voice (i.e. yelling/screaming) transfer to the rest of the house. My plan is to make this an HT/Listening room/gaming room. My hang up is size. It is 11'x12'. The front and rear walls (with regards to viewing position) are 3.5' tall then slope to a flat ceiling at 7 feet. Ceiling is 4'x12'.

My TV will not be upgraded anytime soon, and if place in the new room, will be about 7 - 7.5 feet from the Preferred viewing/listening position. Surrounds would be about 5.5 feet from ears, and will be in the corners at about 3.5-4 feet from floor.

Would you consider it useless to attempt to use this room for this purpose? Advantages are that it will be dark, quiet, comfortable, permanent seating at Preferred Listening Position (which is difficult to get now). Also, I can use wall treatments in the new room (not possible in family room). My concerns are closeness to screen and surrounds.

What do you think?

I want to do it, but don't want to be disappointed.

I think the space would be alright. will your tv fit in the center of the wall without touching the ceiling? And if the room is 12x13, why do you have to sit 7-7.5' away from the tv? the room seems fine for what you need, and would probably be a much better alternative to your family room.
