So I managed to come across a Rythmik Audio DS12 subwoofer through a friend and I want to hook it up, but I don't know anything about large subs. I've tried hooking it up in the same way as my smaller one but that doesn't work. Does anyone know what I would I need to hook it up to my receiver (Yamaha HTR-5540). There's a picture of the back of the sub on their website in the product section which it won't let me link at the moment.

There should be a subwoofer preout on the Yamaha receiver. Just use a 75 ohm RCA cable to connect the receiver's preout to the subwoofer's LFE or Low level input.:)

Can you verify the subwoofer powers on when you plug it in?

There are no low level inputs on the sub (at least none that I see). I've tried using an RCA cable on the only input jacks but that doesn't work either. It powers on now and it worked a few weeks ago which was the last time it was hooked up.

It is a small sub... can't imagine what you mustve been using before to call this a big sub.

Rythmik Audio DS12 is a put it together yourself sub. Best to just ask you friend how he has it configured and how you should set it up. Otherwise, plug in the sub interconnect cable to the Sub pre-out on the back of the reciever. and make sure your sub is powered on.

There should be an Input section somewhere on the back of that sub, might say LFE beside it. Thats where it has too be connected on the sub.
