Need help finding over the ear headphones

Hey guys, just joined the forum. I'm in dire need of over the ear headphones that are pretty good at everything. I make some of my own music, just toying around nothing professional, and need nice cans for that. But at the same time, I want to upgrade from the complimentary iPod headphones. So I need something that is rather portable, doesn't have too much sound leakage, and makes music sound clear and crisp.

I've heard amazing things about Audio Technica ATH-m50's, heard they were very good for studio stuff, and that despite their very true tone they made music sound good. Unfortunately, I have a rather small head and I also heard that they're meant for larger sized craniums.

So can anyone give me suggestions, does anyone own these cans? I'm looking for something in the cheap, $125 price range. Thanks in advance everyone.

If you look around these forums you can find many threads like this. That's what I did, and I eventually got a pair of Sony MDR-7506 headphones based on the number of times I saw them recommended on this site. They were about $75 from Amazon. I've listened to headphones costing over 3 times that price and these can hang with the best. They are often used in professional studios and since buying them, I've noticed them being worn by many musicians in music related TV shows and movies. I find it almost pointless to claim a pair of headphones (or speakers) is better than another because it all comes down to personal preference. I find these headphones to have a neutral sound, so if you like big bass you might want to look elsewhere (not that the bass is lacking by any means, they just aren't built to jack up the lower frequencies). If you prefer your music to not be "colored" by your headphones these may be for you. You can probably get better headphones but probably not better for the same price.

EDIT: Also, the DIY board seems like an odd place for this thread.

You're absolutely right, I apologize for putting this in the DIY section. Thanks for the response though. If a moderator could move this to the appropriate section it would be very much appreciated.
