I have a request I need some help with.
Have updated home theater recently and need a new place to
put my old turntable. It currently resides
unused on an old
Sauder AV rack (glass doors, coasters, and top that opens).
I would like to get rid of this old Behemoth and get a new
small stand that is close to half this height and a bit more
contemporary. My old one is 20 plus years and a bit creaky.
I want the new one under 36 inches tall, and less than 20 inches wide.
I see Crosley sell a inexpensive retro looking cabinet and
a few others that almost meet what I am looking for (close example)

Sanus has a welded Steele thing, but at $500-600 that is > than my budget.
Also many I found are often too wide. What I have also discovered in my searches
is that I really want to duplicate that top loading lid from my old
stand. With dust, pets, and a young child, having it enclosed is preferred.
I have looked at a couple furniture store, and places like Bestbuy with no luck. Google searches and talking to a few people have not been fritful.
Maybe I should just take my old one, chop it in half and paint it black……
LoL
Seriously, it does not need to be large as I already have furniture for the TV
and all of the newer items such as the Blu Ray player etc.
This new piece would just hold the turntable and maybe a couple legacy components like tape player and VCR
I have looked on craig’s list, ebay and browsed through some of the gallery pictures here to get ideas. A couple were close, but were DIY projects which I lack skill in.
Open to suggestions and would prefer not to get a side table or end table.
So.
Parameters are:
- Short – under 36-40 inches
- Fairly narrow – 21/22 would be too wide
- Dark – too match the rest of the furniture
- Enclosed somehow is ideal so turntable is protected.
Thanks in advance, posting in this forum as it indicates Furniture is also a topic of discussion.
