Need help finding 2 to 1 component video splitter

I have a 10 year old Mitsubishi 55 inch HD monitor with 1 DTV, 2 component & 4 input connectors. I am trying to find a component video splitter box to take 2 HD 1080i signals from my HD DVR & HD Blu-Ray player and input them into the single DTV input. I need a switch to flip back and forth from the sources because the input & component connections on the TV are 480i only and will not pass the 1080i signal. Radio Shack has the box for the yellow, white & red cables, but not the red, blue & green cables. The component video box I see on their website shows it splits one signal for 2 monitors. I need the opposite. 2 feeds I can switch between one monitor. Where can I find a device like this?

Any decent video switcher should be able to do this. On the cheap, you may be able to use a Red-White-Yellow switch and feed it the component. A buddy of mine has his HD DVD and HD DVR setup this way and it works fine.

I went to buy that, but the Radio Shack tech said it won't work because of the RF conversion, signal imcompatibility, blah blah blah. So they were pulling my leg when they mentioned I can buy their $79.99 device from the web? I should just buy their $19.99 red, white, yellow box. Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Just buy the cheap box and if it doesn't work you can always return it.

I got a Philips four input/one output component video switch at Walmart for about 20 bucks but it won't convert signals from one format to another if that's what you are looking for.

thanks

Thanks guys, I'll have to try one of those. The Radio Shack audio switch would not pass the video, only audio. I returned those and will start by heading to Walmart and looking for the Philips converter box. I'm surprised they haven't made an HDMI converter cable for S-video or component video cables because I see the HDMI 4-1 converter boxes, but still need a way to get the old cables into the DTV input jacks. I guess they want everyone to buy new monitors. So what kind of cable will be replacing the HDMI next year? And what about 2011?

Remember- HDMI is here because it allows the movie producers to keep people from copying their, well, what it usually is may be for later discussion.

Ever heard of Parts Express? They have all kinds of things like what you're looking for.

There's a lot more involved in going from s-video to tomponent to HDMI. Some are analog and some are digital.

IOW, it's not quite as simple as having one plug on one end of the cable and a different one on the other. There's some pretty sophisticated electronics needed in between.
