Need help deciding

Hello all I’m looking to buy a new home theater receiver I bought a Yamaha RXV 2200 in the early 2000’s that was my 1st receiver I just recently bought a used Yamaha RXV 681 got it for $180 it’s nice but I need a little more power iv been looking at the Yamaha RX A3080 and Marantz along with Denon, I only have experience with Yamaha I just like to know how they compare in sound I watch movies more then music budget $1,500 anyone that has experienced the difference pls let me know I’ve been going round and round can’t decide thank you for your time...

I have a 681 in my bedroom. I also have a 2060 in my den. It definitely has a lot more power. There were some recent comparisons between 2000 and 3000 series and they actually have nearly identical power when tested. The main difference is 3080 can decode 11ch 7.1.4 (requires a 2 ch external amp though to run 11ch), but the 2080 can only decode 9ch so either 5.1.4 or 7.1.2. Also there’s a slightly better DAC chip in the 3080 but you won’t be able to hear any difference.

681 is a 2016 model. The 2080 and 3080 are 2018 models. They have a newer remote control but otherwise operate basically like the 681 does.

Yamaha vs Denon/Marantz sound differences would largely be the dsp involved (Yamaha with it's YPAO room correction, parametric eq and various dsp sound modes) vs the Audyssey room correction Denon/Marantz use, the graphic eq, and the various dsp/sound modes). In pure direct mode they should be indistinguishable. I have no experience owning Yamaha, but have a couple Denons, an Onkyo and a Sony now and have used Pioneer as well. As with many avrs the most powerful amp sections tend to reside in their flagship and other upper-end models. What speakers and speaker layout do you have?

So at the moment I have Mirage Omni 260 mains with matching center and surrounds im updating everything so I’m looking at Klipsch I have a Earthquake SuperNova MKV-12 as sub I was reading other forms ppl take about some receivers sounding warmer then others just trying to decide if I should change brands

I consider such "ppl" to be full of poop generally. I'd choose an avr by the connectivity/features you need or want in the future, and for an appropriate amp section for your speakers and use (and an avr with pre-outs if you want the option of a more powerful external amp).

I know it needs to have a C setting and slow setting as well thank u

I'd just use the calibration/setup software most avrs come with. I use a measurement mic in any case when I do want to take measurements or check spl (a Dayton Omnimic system).
