Hello all,
Don't know much about audio system. That's is why I am posting this thread. I was "given" a pair of Wharfedale Emerald 97 speakers. Never had a A/V reciever in my life. Don't know how to match up these speakers with a reciever, need your expertise, anyone.

My main use of this speakers will be for Home Theather and occasionally jazz - rock music. Have a limited budget, please help recommend a receiver.

Much appreiciated and many thanks - mj

Ok, for that price I'd recommend the Denon AVR 1705/1804 or the Onkyo TX-SR601. Those have enough wattage to drive your speakers. Do you already have the other speakers for your home theater? I can personally recommend the Onkyo since I've owned a TX-SR600 for two years. It is an excellent receiver. Also possible is the Onkyo TX-SR502 (about 300 bucks). Others would recommend Sony, Pioneer, or Yamaha as well. Try to audition the one(s) you are interested in if you can. Circuit city/Best buy have those on hand.
