Ok my only requirment is I need to have component upconversion, so I can feed composite or s-video to the receiver and only having to put component going to my projector. Also I would like to have an auto calibrating thing with the mic. Also I don't have much funds so cheaper is better, I will most likely will try to get it on ebay. It can even be a older model. I don't think it needs to be all that powerfull since my room is only 13 x 11 . I am currently looking at some name brand models like Onkyo, Pioneer, Yamaha, and Denon. Thanks

Well I am in a similar situation, I am running a HDMI cable to the projector, so I need recommendations keeping that in mind. I was reading an article about hiding wires on the forum , a very interesting article and I am concerned about the conflict the cable/satellite HD boxes. He had trouble with a Yamaha receiver. So is there something that willnot have issues with external HD boxes? Thanks.. and sorry about the latching on to this thread Jaaws..

It's solid. Here's an owners thread. You can read all of them if you like, but after a few dozen or so, you'll get the idea.

Yamaha receivers

I have the Yamaha HTR-5860 and it includes the feature to upconvert svideo and composite to component video. AH had a great review of the new HTR-5960 and you can find it from authorized dealers for just over $300.

If you want to convert everything to HDMI, it will cost you. Look for deals on the Yamaha RX-V1600, probably one of the cheapest models with conversion to HDMI. You might be better off with an HDMI switch for all video sources, monprice has some inexpensive options.

Cool, yeah I personally don't need the whole hdmi switching, I just want the cheapest as possible while maintaining quality, with component conversion. I figure anything has to be better than my cheap old sony HTIB.
