I'd not spend 2k on any receiver. You'd be better off getting an Onkyo in the 500 dollar range with pre-amp outs and spending the rest on an external amp.

BMXTRIX Audioholic Warlord Nov 21, 2010 #3 Right now I would probably get this: http://emotiva.com/umc1.shtm and this: http://emotiva.com/xpa5.shtm and this (if I'm doing 7.1): http://emotiva.com/upa2.shtm That's pretty much your budget and would be awesome.

GranteedEV Audioholic Ninja Nov 21, 2010 #4 I agree with BMXTRIX on the amplifier front. ALso look into the Marantz AV7005, Anthem AVM 50v and Denon 4311 as pre-processors.

Just go with aesthetics and features. And the ones that are on SALE. The Pioneer Elite SC-37 measured extremely well on HTM: THD 0.007%, SNR 105dB, Crosstalk -97dB You can get it for ~$1,550: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B004140PUQ/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&qid=1290457296&sr=8-8&condition=new The Denon 4311 would also be awesome and favored by A LOT of people here. You can get it for $1,600: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0042KVX2S/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&qid=1290457647&sr=1-1&condition=new
