At $2k, you can do a lot better than Polk Tsi. Speakers are a subjective preference, of course, but it's hard for me to imagine that the low end Polks could ever be a choice over many other equivalently priced option which don't share its design compromises or its horrendous tweeter. Some much better lines of speakers to consider:
EMPtek Impression,
Infinity Primus,
Pioneer SP,
Hsu speakers,
Ascend CBM and CMT speakers are just a few. There are other even better options out there if you are willing to do a bit of assembly yourself, like
this or
this. As far as subwoofes go, a
Hsu VTF2 or
Rythmik LV12 would be a good match to a $2k system and a lot better than any of the BIC subs. For receivers, you should pick the one which has the features you want. Sony gets trashed a lot around audio forums, but I don't think they are bad. I just don't think they are the best bang for the buck. I much prefer Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon, Harman/Kardon and even Onkyo.
To connect it all together you will need speaker wire, of course, and also an HDMI cable. Don't buy these things at Bestbuy or Radio Shack, the mark up on cables is extremely high. Get that stuff from
monoprice or
bluejeans. If you need a speaker mount, the best assodable one out there is the
videosecu side-clamping mounts.
