Okay so I finally got the okay to upgrade my Yamaha v663 from the wife. So now I am just deciding what to go with. These are my three choices I'm trying to pick from in no specific order.

1. Yamaha - AX3030
2. Denon - 4520CI
3. Marantz - AV7701 (and MM7055 amp)

I will also be getting a Oppo Blu-ray player and have Direct TV, along with many gaming systems. Viewing on a new Panasonic 50ST60 (calibrated). The next step will be upgrade speakers.

Any input would help.

I prefer Audyssey to YPAO so it'd be a Denon or Marantz for me. The Anthem MRX line is worth a look also.

Probably best to decide on speakers first, then choose the avr so that you'll be sure to have adequate power for the speakers. For instance Marantz recommends 6 ohm speakers or above with the MM7055.

For speakers I am looking at one of these four. All of them are at 6ohms or higher, most are 8ohm.

1. Sunfire ribbon xt series
2. B&W
3. Klipsch Reference
4. Axiom

Can you elaborate on the models within each brand you are interested in?

give us a budget and then you can get some oppinions on the entire system start to finish.... I find the guys on here know where the good buys are and what goes good together, it will give you a great starting place, and then you can, let your ears do the deciding...

I was waiting for the budget piece. Well I am looking at spending about $1000 on the a/v unit alone. I am one of the lucky ones and get stuff direct from manufacture purchase (80% off). Was going to go with the marantz pre/pro w/amp because its $960 shipped. Speakers I will probably spend about $3k - $4k. Hope this helps.

Ok, So I went ahead and ordered the Marantz Pre/Pro 7701 and MM7055. I am now looking at XLR Cables, I heard Monoprice, Bluejeans, and maybe thinking Audio Quest If price is right. What thoughts does everyone have. All my other Cables are Monster 1000 (lifetime capatability warranty) I have had tributaries in the past as well. I don't know if the same standards stand for XLR cables or not since this is new to me. Thanks for any and all input.
