Well for start, OK it is a 5 system. No subwoofer yet.
I have a 15.5' x 18.8' room.
My equipment
50" Samsung DLP TV
Sony STR-DE675 Receiver (5.1)
Polk Audio R40 Fronts
Polk Audio CS2 Center
Sony (don't know model - 12" woofers, mids and tweeters) - REars

Look at the picture for my current set up

Is this set up good? Anything I could do to make the sound better? It sounds good now, just don't like the placements of the rears.

The rears are large, and must be on the ground.

Any help would be appreciated.

Move the couch forward so it's about 11' from the front wall. That'll give you better surround by far and also get you away from the wall where all the bass is buidling up and boomy.

Do you mean 11 inches or 11 feet? 11 feet would put me 4 feet from my TV
Thanks for the advice though.

11 feet from the FRONT wall where the TV is. The room is 18'8" long according to your post. That will put you about 10' from the TV.

If the room is oriented so you're looking across the 15' dimension, then you'd want your seat at approx 9-10 feet from the wall the TV is on.

If it were me, I'd be viewing at 8 ft., but most definitely move away from the rear wall. Then try your rear speakers facing each other, or just slightly toed forward.
